Pattern Review: Simplicity 1475

So I went to Joann's yesterday to get PVA glue for paper mache and left with 4 yards of fabric, 2 patterns, and some yarn. Ok in my defense they were having their Winter Warm-up sale and red tag fabric was 1/2 off and patterns were one dollar each! Plus my little bear needs some summer clothes!

She calls this dress her "Sassy Dress". She is the sassiest things around so it's only fitting I suppose. The pattern design is pretty ingenious. No zippers (woohoo!) and just a little elastic in the back. This is not a good pattern for just guessing which size would work though. I wish I would have measured her first because the back is HUGE. I had to safety pin it. It will probably fit her until she is 10! The pattern itself includes a pattern for a purse with the same bow, dress, shirt, shorts, pants, and even a pattern for an 18 in. doll dress!! Oh and a hair bow. A really good value considering all the stuff you can make!
I was nervous about the bow construction but it's a smart design and all you need to know how to do is make a buttonhole.
I added length to the bottom with this piece of skirt my grandma gave me (she always has bits and pieces of stuff like this for me when I visit. I never think I will get around to using them but I almost always do!).
So what do you think of this pattern? If you really like it and want to purchase one you can use my affiliate link below (I will make a small percentage of $ but I only put affiliate ads for things I really like!).

  1. I just recently discovered your blog- loving all of your crafty ideas! This dress is the cutest thing ever, and that fabric is so fun. I might have to make it for one of the cute sassy little ladies I know!

  2. Thanks Emily! I'm so glad you like it. I got that fabric for $2/yd!! Couldn't pass it up. I hope you get a chance to make it. My daughter loves it. Thanks for stopping by!
